BRT19 organise Special Olympics for Hearing Impaired’ children

SpOHI’ (‘Special Olympics for Hearing Impaired’ children”) – the Annual Sports meet being organized since 1977 by our Bombay Round Table 19 – which this year is on Saturday 2nd February 2008 (from 8 a.m.), at University Stadium-Sports Pavilion, New Marine Lines, Mumbai 400 020.

ART40 organise 11th Blind People Car Rally

Ahmedabad Round Table (ART 40) is associated with Blind Peoples car rally since last 12 years. The rally was conceptualized by ART 40 and now we are proud to say many cities have now taken up this cause. To highlight the difference between ‘sight’ and ‘vision’, the rally has a driver who can see but will be guided by a blind person who can ‘visualize the route through a chart which is given to him only in Braille. This event in the past has evoked a very enthusiastic response not only from the blind youngsters but also from youth of Ahmedabad who see an opportunity to take part in a rally approved by Federation of motor sports club in India and at the same time can take satisfaction of doing their bit for the disabled people.
WHO ARE BENEFITED BY THIS RALLY?
Such a rally encourages the sightless to go in for adventures showing that nothing is impossible. The rally is aimed at creating public awareness about the potential of the blind and developing a feeling of competition among them. It is a car rally with a difference.

Chairman

Dear Fellow Tablers of Area III,

To begin with, I humbly thank the entire floor of Area III for the warmth and support extended to me time and again in my endeavors over the years under multiple portfolios in the Area Board.

Friends, the year gone by under the able leadership of our Area Chairman Tr. Vaishal, has borne witness to challenging far more limits than anticipated by most of us. The reorganization deadline extension saw humongous flow of emotions and bonding between all tables of Area III. It was this passion towards the internal bonding combined with the immense emotion of a united strong area, which really convinced our President Tr. Shiv to support and propose a further extension towards our reorganization roadmap.

Now that we have achieved success towards the toughest of the challenges, be it the extension in deadline of re-organization roadmap or the challenge of chartering a new table in Mumbai after a time span of over 34 years, it is now time to gear up towards a year to further “Friendship and Togetherness” between us. The top most agenda on the year’s list being “You First”.

Friends, the coming year shall be of utmost importance from our area perspective. Area III has scaled the highest peak very efficiently over the past years. The most challenging part for the coming year is to capitalize on this great achievement and ensure our area continues to deliver in line with expectations most have in our collective capabilities.

We shall together strive towards a stronger foundation for our area especially since we need to prepare ourselves thoroughly for the future challenges mainly that of re-organization. To be prepared to handle this challenge as and when it knocks on our doorstep; our concentration shall be focused to a large extent on external extension.

Friends, together we shall convert the “YEAR OF THE TABLERS” from a challenge to a wonderful quote “A TOUCH OF FRIENDSHIP”

In anticipation of your continual support,
Yours truly with “A Touch of Friendship”

Tr. Pritam Sanghvi
Area Chairman 2007-08
